Avita Psycare

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How long are the regular psychotherapy sessions?

The typical average session length for an initial intake session is about 60 minutes and for regular follow up sessions is 50 minutes.
However, at times they may end a few minutes early or run a few minutes longer.

2. What if I’m running late to the session – will I still have the full 50 minute session?

Our clinicians work hard to accommodate client’s scheduling needs, however, they may not be able to reschedule or extend the session if you are delayed. If you are running late, please email and/or call your clinician directly to notify them.

3. Does your office prescribe medication?

Our group practice specializes in providing psychotherapy and counseling, and does not have a prescribing professional on staff. We will gladly coordinate medical care with your prescribing clinician while providing psychotherapy.

4. Does your office offer services other than counseling?

Avita PsyCare is a boutique group practice that provides treatment in a form of what is often referred to as “talk therapy,” which may involve a variety of clinical interventions and different types of supportive, cognitive and behavioral therapies.

5. Does your office provide after hours crisis services?

Avita PsyCare is a private group practice, with clinicians dedicated to helping their clients through difficult emotional times, however, we do not have the same infrastructure or staff, as clinics do, to address any emergencies. If you are experiencing a clinical emergency, please go to the closest Emergency Room or call 911. You can reach the NorthSTAR Mobile Crisis Unit at 1-866-260-8000. The national suicide hotline is 1-800-273 TALK (8255) or dial 988.

6. Do you offer telehealth appointments?

Avita PsyCare, provides intake and psychotherapy sessions as telehealth, which offers many scheduling and administrative conveniences. Please talk to your therapist to determine if this might be right for you or your child.

7. Do you accept health insurance as a way to cover the cost of therapy?

Avita PsyCare is contracted with a number of large and small health insurance plans, as an in-network provider. We also accept insurance out-of-network and will gladly submit for reimbursement on your behalf.

8. What is the cost for paying privately?

Avita PsyCare is a group practice with a number of experienced and talented clinicians. While each clinician may set their own per session fees, on average our regular sessions may range from $100-$250. If you are experiencing financial distress and would like to discuss a special arrangement, many of our clinicians can offer a temporary “sliding scale” to accommodate.

9. What method of payment do you accept?

We accept all forms of major credit cards (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Discover). We also accept FSA and HSA credit cards if they are processed by Visa or Mastercard.

10. How will I be billed for the service?

In most cases you will be given access to our secure portal to manage your payment method, and adding a credit card (or FSA/HSA card) number to keep on file so that any copayments, deductibles of self-pay fees can be collected at the time of services, or billed within the next few business days. At the start of treatment, clients agree to be responsible for maintaining a valid and fully funded card so not to acquire a balance and not to interrupt the services.
