Mandy Lam
Licensed Psychotherapist
Mandy Lam is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC). She obtained her Masters of Social Work and Masters of Music Therapy from New York University.
Mandy sees psychotherapy as a safe, nurturing, and nonjudgmental space to work through challenges in your everyday life.
As a psychotherapist and music therapist, Mandy’s approach is relational, person-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed. Being seen, heard, and accepted for who we are is a universal need. It is when people feel seen and accepted by others, that they are able to fully embrace themselves, and show up authentically in all aspects of their lives.
She believes that clients have everything they need within themselves to reach their full potential. Her role is to guide clients to embody parts of themselves that they may be struggling to accept, discover aspects of themselves that they may be unfamiliar with, and explore different ways of coping to live a more fulfilling life.
As a therapist of color and an immigrant, it is Mandy’s priority to understand how her client’s intersecting identities have impacted their lives and their way of thinking, as well as how that shapes the way they navigate the world. In psychotherapy treatment, Mandy uses a combination of attachment-based, psychodynamic, process-oriented, and mindfulness-based approaches, along with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT) and eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) techniques.
Mandy specializes in anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, life transitions, cultural adjustment, intergenerational trauma, and perinatal mental health (pregnancy, prenatal, postpartum). She offers services in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin
