About

Welcome to Avita PsyCare

Avita Psychological Care is a boutique psychotherapy practice serving clients in Manhattan and throughout New York, with online therapy available statewide. We are dedicated to thoughtful, personalized, and high-quality mental health care. We help adults build healthier relationships, reduce anxiety and stress, and create meaningful, lasting change in their lives.

Our practice welcomes people at many different stages of emotional wellbeing. Some clients come to us feeling generally capable but stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected on the inside. Others reach out because they are struggling with more significant symptoms and challenges and need steady, professional support to regain stability and direction. Wherever you are starting from, our goal is to meet you with understanding, respect, and individualized care.

A different kind of practice

Unlike large platforms that rely on algorithms, high-volume matching, or AI chatbots, Avita is built around real human connection. When you reach out to us, you are guided by experienced professionals—not automated systems—who take the time to understand your needs and thoughtfully match you with the right therapist. We believe therapy works best when it is personal, consistent, and relationship-based. Rather than a revolving-door approach, we focus on steady, trusting connections where meaningful and lasting healing can truly take place.

What we offer

We provide individual psychotherapy tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals. Our clinicians are experienced in helping clients with a wide range of emotional, relational, and life concerns.

Areas we commonly help with

Emotional & mental health

Relational & life concerns

We are also committed to providing affirming, culturally sensitive care to individuals across many identities and experiences…

We believe that effective therapy begins with a genuine human connection. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all treatment, our clinicians take the time to understand your history, relationships, strengths, and challenges. Together, we create an individualized therapy plan that reflects your goals, personality, and life circumstances.

Our team brings a diverse range of clinical training and therapeutic perspectives, allowing us to tailor care to each person we work with. Depending on your needs, your therapist may draw from approaches such as:

  • Psychodynamic and relational therapy, to explore patterns, relationships, and the deeper roots of emotional struggles
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), to build flexibility, values-based action, and emotional resilience
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness
  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), for trauma processing and recovery
  • Internal family systems (IFS) and parts-based approaches, to work compassionately with inner conflicts and self-relationship
  • Trauma-informed and attachment-based therapies, to support healing from early or difficult life experiences
  • Emotionally focused and relationship-focused interventions, to improve communication and connection
  • Supportive and solution-focused therapy, to address immediate concerns and practical goals

This range of methods allows us to meet you where you are and adapt treatment as your needs evolve over time.

Across these approaches, our therapists help clients:

  • Understand the patterns shaping their emotions and relationships
  • Develop healthier ways of coping with stress and difficult feelings
  • Improve communication, boundaries, and relationship skills
  • Build confidence, self-compassion, and self-trust
  • Strengthen emotional resilience and regulation
  • Gain practical tools for everyday challenges
  • Move forward with greater clarity, balance, and purpose

Therapy at Avita PsyCare is collaborative, respectful, and grounded in real-world change—helping you feel more steady, connected, and fully yourself.

Avita Psychological Care is a network of independent clinicians who practice within a shared professional community. While each therapist maintains their own areas of expertise and individual clinical style, we work together behind the scenes to ensure thoughtful coordination and high standards of care.

This collaborative structure allows us to carefully match clients with therapists who are well-suited to their needs, consult with one another when helpful, and draw on the collective experience of the team. Our goal is to provide the benefits of a connected clinical community while preserving the personal, one-to-one nature of each therapeutic relationship.

At the same time, we take privacy and confidentiality extremely seriously. Any collaboration among clinicians is conducted with professionalism and discretion, and always in accordance with ethical and legal standards.

Above all, we strive to create an environment that feels welcoming, respectful, and secure—where clients can feel confident that they are receiving attentive, individualized care within a trusted professional setting.

Dr. Khodik works with adults from many backgrounds and at different stages of life. Clients come to the practice for a wide range of reasons — some seeking support with everyday stress, life transitions, or relationship challenges, and others navigating more complex or long-standing emotional concerns. Some arrive with a clear goal in mind, while others simply know they want to feel better, gain insight into themselves, or make meaningful changes in their lives.

The practice is grounded in the belief that effective care considers the whole person — not just symptoms. Therapy is affirming, inclusive, and culturally responsive, creating space for clients to feel seen, respected, and understood in the context of their identities and lived experiences.

Neurodiversity-Affirming Care

Dr. Khodik’s practice supports adults who are neurodivergent, including those who are ADHD, autistic, twice-exceptional, highly sensitive, or otherwise differently wired. Many clients seek support for challenges related to executive functioning, sensory overwhelm, social stress, burnout, or identity expectations.

Care is strengths-based and non-pathologizing, focused on helping clients work with their neurology rather than against it. Collaboration with neuropsychological assessment is supported when appropriate.

LGBTQIA+ Affirming Care

The practice provides knowledgeable, affirming therapy for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures, including transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals. Clients never need to educate their provider about their identity in order to feel respected, understood, and supported.

Culturally Responsive & Multicultural Care

Dr. Khodik recognizes that culture, race, ethnicity, immigration experiences, and worldview deeply shape emotional health. Therapy is informed by cultural humility and curiosity, honoring diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, bilingual and multilingual experiences, immigration and acculturation stress, generational dynamics, and cultural perspectives on family roles and mental health.

Faith & Religious Diversity

Clients from a wide range of spiritual and religious backgrounds are welcome, including Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and other faith traditions, as well as those who identify as secular or are exploring spirituality. Therapy can thoughtfully integrate spiritual or religious considerations when they are meaningful to the client, including questions of observance, doubt, transition, or community expectations.

People seek support at the practice for concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, addictive behaviors, eating-related concerns, and the pressures of work and family life. Both short-term, focused support and longer-term therapy for deeper patterns are available.

Above all, Dr. Khodik’s practice is committed to creating a therapeutic space where clients feel safe, respected, and supported — regardless of background, identity, or where they are in their journey.
